Mentoring Program Mission Statement
The MM4 Foundation Mentoring Program is dedicated to empowering, inspiring, and guiding the youth of Richmond, VA. Through consistent mentorship, educational support, skill-building, and community engagement, our mission is to create a nurturing environment that fosters personal growth, academic success, and social development, equipping young people with the tools to become confident, compassionate, and responsible leaders.
Target Population
The MM4 Foundation Mentoring Program serves boys and girls between the ages of 10 and 21 who reside in Richmond, VA. The program is designed to support youth who may face challenges such as family instability, academic struggles, social pressures, and limited access to positive role models.

Program Goals

3. Social Development: Promote healthy relationships, effective communication skills, and constructive conflict resolution.

Program Structure
1. One-on-One Mentoring
● Description: Each youth participant is paired with a committed adult mentor who provides personalized support, guidance, and a listening ear.
● Frequency: Weekly or as needed
● Focus Areas: ○ Academic tutoring and support ○ Goal setting and personal development ○ Emotional and social support ○ Building trust and providing a safe space for discussion
2. Group Mentoring Sessions
● Description: Monthly group sessions with all mentees and mentors, featuring workshops, guest speakers, and interactive activities.
● Focus Areas: ○ Life skills workshops (e.g., conflict resolution, leadership development) ○ Community-building activities (e.g., team sports, cultural outings) ○ Career exploration panels and skill-building activities
● Purpose: To foster peer connections, enhance learning experiences, and create a supportive community.
3. Educational Workshops and Academic Support
● Topics Covered: ○ Study skills and homework assistance ○ Preparing for high school or college (including application guidance) ○ Technology and digital literacy
● Resources: Access to tutoring, SAT/ACT prep, and help with school projects.
4. Community Service Projects
● Description: Mentees participate in quarterly service projects, such as neighborhood clean-ups, food drives, or volunteering at local shelters.
● Purpose: To instill a sense of civic responsibility and develop leadership skills.
5. Recreational and Cultural Activities
● Description: Opportunities for youth to engage in fun, enriching activities, such as museum visits, hiking trips, sports games, and theater performances.

Mentor Requirements
● Commitment: Mentors must commit to at least one year of consistent engagement with their mentee.
● Qualifications: ○ Must be at least 21 years old ○ Pass a background check ○ Complete mentor training sessions
● Roles and Responsibilities: ○ Serve as a positive role model ○ Provide encouragement and constructive feedback ○ Respect and uphold the program’s core values
Program Impact and Evaluation
● Measuring Success: The program’s impact will be evaluated through: ○ Academic performance metrics (e.g., grades, school attendance) ○ Personal development indicators (e.g., improved self-esteem, reduced behavioral issues) ○ Feedback from mentees, parents, and mentors
